The Tabitha: Crochet Hat Pattern
Supplies:
Vanna’s Choice yarn in toffee and little boy blue (cream and black)
Hook I for Large G for Small
Tapestry hook for weaving in ends
Scissors
Gauge: 10dc per 4″
**Special Stitch**: Wrap yarn around hook 3x’s, skip 3sts, Do a treble in next stitch, Working in 3stitches missed, 1dc in the 3 missed stitches. Keep the Treble in front of work.
Ch3
1: 12 dc in 3rd chain from hook, sl st to the top of the first DC, ch2 (ch2 does not count as dc – only a filler)
2: 2dc in each st around. sl st in top of first dc made, ch2
3: 1dc in first st, 2dc in next stitch*Repeat this pattern around, sl st in top of first dc made, ch2
4: 1dc in first 2 stitches, 2dc in next stitch*Repeat this pattern around, sl st in top of first dc made, ch2
5: 1dc in first 3 stitches, 2dc in next stitch*Repeat this pattern around, sl st in top of first dc made, ch2
6: Use Special Stitch: around. sl st in top of first st made, ch2
7. 1dc in each stitch around. sl st in top of first st made, ch 2
8. Use special Stitch around. sl st in top of first st made, ch2
9. 1dc in each stitch around sl st in top of first st made, ch2
10. Use special stitch around sl st in top of first st made, ch2
11: 1dc in each stitch around sl st in top of first st made, ch2
12: sc in each stitch around, changing colors in turning chain, sl st to first stitch made
13: 1sc in each stitch around, sl st in first st made ch1
14: Shell Stitch*{[sc,hdc,dc,hdc,sc] in first stitch, skip next stitch, sl st in next stitch}* Repeat * around, sl st in first stitch made, end off
Weave in loose Ends.
Cord:
With contrasting color (shells) chain 100. end off. Weave in ends.
Weave the cord in and out of the second row of *Treble Special Stitch*. Tie a Bow in Front.

Frosting Top:
We’ll be using a Puff Stitch for this Top.

(using Hdc Puff Stitch)
Ch2
1: 6puff stitches in the second stitch from hook
2: 2puff stitches in each Puff stitch around. (you will be working in the top of the puff stitch of previous round) See picture below

3: 1puff stitch in the top of next puff stitch, 2 puff stitches in top of next puff stitch *repeat this pattern around* sl st into top of the first puff stitch made.

4: 1puff stitch in each stitch around, sl st into top of the first puff stitch made.
5: 1 puff stitch in each stitch around sl st into top of the first puff stitch made.
End off, leave a long 18″ tail for sewing up

Stuff with poly fiber fill,
sew the top to the Bottom ‘cake’ using a whip stitch – use open stitch (back loop from row 12)

Just before closing, you want to stuff more, sew closed.

Next step if you are following along with the crochet-a-long:

You are now going to work in the Back loops only (this next row[6]).
Rows 6- 10: single crochet in each stitch, In the last stitch change to Little boy blue or Green for st. patricks day cupcake pattern.

Take the Cardboard and cut a piece that will fit in the base of the cake. This will enable it to stand up nicely on your desk or table.

Row11: sc in each stitch around
Row 12: In front loops only -> sc,hdc,sc in first stitch, skip a stitch (repeat this pattern all around until the last stitch) skip last stitch, sl st to first sc made. End off. Weave in loose ends.
